Autumn transforms Algonquin Highlands into a cornucopia of colour, a brilliant tapestry of reds, oranges and yellows. It’s a photographer’s paradise, and as such, we’re launching The Algonquin Highlands Fall Photo Contest!

How it works:

Photos need not necessarily be foliage-focused, but can be any image that captures the essence of autumn in Algonquin Highlands. Contestants will be limited to one submission each. A submission period will run from Sept. 22 until 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. A week-long voting period will then commence, ending at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21. Anyone registered on Let's Connect Algonquin Highlands may vote in the contest. Winners will be announced the first week of November.



How to submit your photo:

The contest uses a tool called Ideas. Below, click on Share Your Photo. Then click Add Your Idea. A small electronic form will appear. On the top line, where it reads "Add your idea," please enter a title for your photo. On the bottom line, where it reads "Enter a short description," please indicate where within Algonquin Highlands your photo was taken, and if you wish, a description of the subject matter. Then click the Upload Image icon to upload your photo.

Please note that members of Algonquin Highlands Staff or Council are not permitted to take part in the contest.

Instructions for voting:

Any registered user of the Let’s Connect Algonquin Highlands website may vote . Underneath each photo is a clickable heart icon. Voting is as simple as clicking that icon. Voters may click as many hearts as they like, however, it’s asked that voters only click for the photo, or photos, they truly feel deserve to win. Voting will run until 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21.

Prizes:

The Township of Algonquin Highlands will provide prizes to the photographers of the three most popular images.

1st Place Prize: A weekend of camping for two at a Haliburton Highlands Water Trails site during the 2023 season, plus a complimentary canoe rental (Valued at $150)

2nd Place Prize: A day of skiing for two at the Frost Centre Ski Trails, including trail passes and complimentary ski rentals (Valued at $80 to $100)

3rd Place Prize: A cozy and stylish sweater of your choice from the AH Trails Office gift shop (Valued at $55)
